INSPIRATION *IT IS ALL GREEK TO US*

Our love for Greece is the motivation always to design our prints and patterns.

AW 22/23 collection “IT IS ALL GREEK TO US” is based on a variety of patterns that recalls different periods of our history.

The collection consists of 13 prints, which reflects our ethnic version of our Culture.

Patterns such us “spira”, “waves”,”meandros”, “akanthos”, “akrokeramon”, “anthos”, “anthemia motifs” are present and for sure you will see them in future collections too.

Colors such as mustard yellow, blue raff, dusty green, vivid red, red bordeaux helped us create different color combinations.

*In Ancient Greece flowers were quite important in everyday life and decoration. Religion, myths, art, medicine, rituals and other activities were closely associated with flowers.

Thus, many patterns were inspired by this theme (Anthos, Akanthos, Anthemia)

*“Anthemia” motifs, palm-like patterns, are characteristic of ancient Greek architecture and objects, particularly vases.

*Another flower inspiration is “Akanthos”, which characterizes all flora with thorny leaves, usual decoration in architecture such as the Corinthian Order

(“Kionokrano” is decorated with Acanthus leaves)

*Pottery Patterns of Middle Minoan era are also part of Melitta Mood and of our autumn collection.
